Plumbright Southern offers central heating repair in Hedge End. If you have cold radiators, noisy pipes, heating that will not come on or a system that keeps losing pressure, we find the fault and fix it.
Many central heating faults come from a few parts: a pump that has stopped, a zone or diverter valve that sticks, a faulty thermostat or programmer, or air and sludge in the pipes. We test each part in turn so we fix the real cause rather than guessing.
More Information
A radiator that is cold at the top usually needs bleeding. Cold at the bottom often means sludge. If one radiator is cold all over, the valve may be stuck or shut. If radiators far from the boiler stay cool, the system may need balancing so hot water reaches every room.
Start with the simple checks. Is the boiler showing a fault or low pressure? Is the programmer set to on and the thermostat turned up above room temperature? Are the batteries in a wireless thermostat flat? If all of that looks fine, the fault is likely a valve, pump or wiring issue.
Plumbright Southern has carried out central heating repair in Hedge End for 25 years. Heating systems are made up of many parts that rely on each other, so a fault in one place can show up somewhere else. As Gas Safe registered engineers who also fit full systems, we look at the boiler, controls and pipework together to find what has actually gone wrong.

STILL NOT SURE?
Balancing means adjusting the lockshield valve on each radiator so they all heat up at a similar rate. Radiators near the boiler are turned down a little, and those furthest away are left more open. It takes time, and a thermometer helps. If it seems tricky, we can do it for you.
This is often caused by sludge, a pump that is not moving water fast enough, or a system that is out of balance. It can also be the thermostat in the wrong place, such as next to a warm kitchen. We check each of these to find the cause in your Hedge End home.
Gurgling usually means air in the system, which bleeding the radiators can often fix. Banging, or a kettle-like rumble from the boiler, can point to sludge or scale restricting the flow. Ticking as pipes warm up is normal expansion. If loud noises keep happening, we can find and fix the cause.
